Jackson Cooper is a M.S. student in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at North Carolina State University. His research uses long-read sequencing and comparative genomics to investigate genome evolution in fungal pathogens, with a particular focus on heterokaryon biology, accessory chromosomes, and mating-type evolution. Outside the lab, he enjoys painting, running, cooking, and spoiling his two cats.
