Mary Lewis
I am a graduating senior in the Department of Plant Biology at North Carolina State Univeristy and I have been a member of Dr. Carbone's lab since the Spring of 2011. I grew up in Fayetteville, NC and I enjoy rock climbing and art. For the past two summers, I have participated in REU programs at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Cornell. I have worked in Dr. Carbone's lab culturing and genotyping isolates and currently, I am focusing on the bioinformatics side of research by working to understand the functions and uses of the Aspergillus flavus genome browser. I am also a Global Plant Health Intern here at NCSU and in the summer of 2012, I will go to Costa Rica to study the population biology of black sigatoka on banana and plantain.
